Proven Homegrown Leadership

As second oldest of six children, Sergio learned responsibility, leadership and the importance of education at a young age. Today he applies these values to every part of our community.

As a volunteer tutor at Orange County Juvenile Hall, Sergio helped teach reading and math skills to some of Orange County’s most disadvantaged youth. This experience taught Sergio firsthand the power that education has to create opportunity and hope, while changing lives for the better.

Sergio serves the community by volunteering his time and energy to various committees and charitable organizations. Sergio is a Commissioner to the Chief of Police in Westminster, and Commissioner to the Orange County District Attorney’s Advisory Commission. Sergio is also past president of KinderCaminata Inc., former member of Westminster’s Community Advisory Group, and former Cultural Arts Commissioner.

Sergio Contreras was born, raised, and educated in Westminster. He attended Webber Elementary, Warner Middle School and graduated from Westminster High School. With his family’s support and encouragement, Sergio earned his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Master’s degree in Public Policy & Administration from California State University, Long Beach.

He, his wife, Adriana Contreras, and their daughter Chloe live in Westminster.

Sergio was elected to the Westminster School Board of Trustees on November 2, 2004 and continues to focus on creating good productive citizens and encouraging life long learners.
